Jennie Ann Fleming

As Jennie's husband, it is heart breaking to compose a tribute at this time of grievous loss, yet it's my honor to share some attributes and information about my dear Jennie.
Jennie McCorvey Fleming entered into The LORD'S Kingdom of Heaven on January 3, 2021. She was 66 years old.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Fleming, her two sisters Diane and Gail McCorvey, her brother and sister-in-law John and Carol McCorvey.
Jennie grew up in DeKalb County, graduated from Briarcliff High School in 1972 and DeKalb College in 1974. She worked for the DeKalb Probate Court of DeKalb County for 6 years. She graduated from The Dental Hygiene Dept. of Dekalb College in 1984 and practiced as a licensed dental hygienist in a children's office for16 years. She especially loved working with special needs patients. She later earned a Master's Degree in Education at Brenau University in 1992. She served as an instructor for the Dental Hygiene Department of The Dunwoody Campus of Dekalb College.
For 22 years Jennie was the Dental Educator and Coordinator for The East Metro Health District. She developed the program and was instrumental in the coordination and presentations for dental health education in three Counties. She prepared newsletters for the public health districts and other school systems. Jennie tirelessly researched articles and information for each newsletter. She was a lifetime member of the Georgia Dental Health Association and active in supporting all causes in the education of dental hygiene, The school system teachers admired the energy and dedication which she provided for so many needy children.
Jennie was dedicated to her patients, her students, her friends and work associates. She was a creative and beloved teacher. She was an encourager to all, a caring instructor with sterling traits. Jennie was adored and respected by all in both her professional and personal life. One of GOD'S many gifts to Jennie was the gift of ENCOURAGEMENT. All who knew her can attest to her willingness to encourage and compliment others.
Jennie and I met in 1967 on the first day of high school in front of their art room class. From that moment onward, they were friends throughout high school and began dating in the Summer of 1972
We were married on September 17th 1976 in Decatur. We were Southern raised and born and shared interests in our mutual regional, Confederate, Scottish and genealogical histories. Together we created historical artwork and participated in many history related programs. Jennie was a member of the Agnes Lee Chapter of The United Daughters of The Confederacy.
She was an excellent artist, clothing historian and seamstress of the highest order.
Jennie and myself helped many abandoned, injured and feral cats that always found a way to their front porch. We provided a loving home for inside cats and built an outside sanctuary which gave freedom and safety for many other cats. Each animal was provided caring home for their natural lives. Since 1984, the total of saved animals exceeds 40 cats, including 3 possums. In addition, we found homes for a number of outcast dogs
Jennie was a tender hearted, caring person, with a bright smile, a great sense of humor, unlimited patience and always found the best in any person or situation. She was a genteel Southern Lady with grace and poise.
Above all else, Jennie was an unwavering Christian who dearly loved THE LORD. Her love for HIM influenced and strengthened me and all who knew her. Without a shadow of doubt, Jennie is with THE LORD who she loved so dearly.
From the beginning, it was clear that THE LORD created us for one another. We were never separated even by one day or night. We were inseparable and as ONE. Jennie was a gift in my life each day. Her total love for me will continue to comfort me for the rest of my life. I am shattered by her loss in this world, but HEAVEN is enriched with her eternal presence.
I was blessed and honored that Jennie was my best friend and my wife.
