Joan Hamil Emondson

Joan Hamil Edmondson, 85, of Decatur, GA, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 15, 2019. Born March 11, 1933, in Fairfax, AL, she was the daughter of the late Noah Hamil and Eunice Briskey. Joan met the love of her life, Rolfe, and was married at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Decatur. They made their home together in Decatur where they raised two children. As a homemaker, she enjoyed sewing, smocking, and baking. In her later years, Joan found a passion for quilting and she made many quilts by hand that her family will continue to enjoy for many generations to come. Upon Rolfe's retirement, the two made a move to Palm Coast, FL, where they enjoyed 20 years together making new friends, playing tennis, bicycling along the beach, and entertaining their friends and family at their home. In 2014, they moved back to Decatur to be closer to family.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Rolfe Edmund Edmondson, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Lindy Parker (Bert), her son, Ed Edmondson (Connie) seven grandchildren, Brannon Parker (Sarah), Brett Parker, Bethany Nowak (Nate), Brooke Parker, Erin Percival (Brent), Liz Hooper (Chad), and Austin Edmondson. She is also survived by 4 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at St. James Episcopal Church Cemetery, Marietta, GA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hammock Community Church 5299 N. Ocean Shore Blvd, Palm Coast, FL 32137.
