Joan M. Rice

Joan M. Rice of Atlanta went home to be with the Lord August 31, 2014. She was born in Newnan, GA to the late Dr. and Mrs. JE Marsh. She met James Rice at Grant Park UMC; they celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary earlier this year. The couple started their family in the East Lake area where they resided for many years. Joan was the heart of the family, and was completely content with her role as mother, homemaker and wife. She had a faith in the Lord and a love of Jesus that was unshakeable, and laid the foundation of that faith in her children. Her gentle soul and sweet heart will be missed by all who knew her. Joan is preceded in death by her beloved precious daughter Jane, her brother Ernest and her sister Myrtle. She is survived by husband James, daughters Joan and Janet, twin brothers William and Plyde, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
