Joe Edward Cobb

Joe Edward Cobb passed on to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 4, 2018. He was the loving husband of his wife Ruth Abbey Cobb for 70 years. He was a world war Navy veteran, serving as a Seaman First Class from March 1945 to July 1946. He is a graduate of Georgia Tech, where he played football under coach Bobby Dodd. He was an employee of Coca-Cola and retired after 38 years, managing syrup plants in Portland, Oregon; Nashua, New Hampshire; and Greensboro, North Carolina. Survived by his children, Judy (Cobb) Schneider, husband Dennis Schneider and Douglas Cobb, wife Marietta Cobb; a giving grandfather to four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Atlanta, Georgia and devoted to the support of missionaries of the church as well as other mission organizations. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018 in the chapel of A.S. Turner & Sons with Dr. Scott Downing officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s association. A.S.
