Joe F. Elliott, Sr, of Knoxville, died peacefully at home on July 19, 2018. He and Emily lived in Avondale Estates, Georgia for more than forty years and attended Columbia Drive Baptist Church for more than fifty years. Following a serious illness in 2005, he moved to Knoxville to be with his daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Andy Reid. He was a member of Central Baptist Bearden.
Joe served four years in the US Naval Aviation in the American and European Theaters during World War II. He retired from Atlanta Georgia Light Company after a long and successful career.
He was preceded in death by Emily Patterson Elliott, his wife of more than 60 years; son, Joe, Jr., who served in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart; father, J. Rol Elliott; mother, Naomi Branan Ellis; step-mother, Ada Russell Elliott; three sisters, three brothers; two brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; one grandson-in-law, Dale Stuckey; Uncle Joe and Aunt Dove.
Joe is survived by his daughter, Anne Elliott Reid and her husband Andy; grandson, Brent Reid; daughter-in-law, Gail Elliott; granddaughters, Dayna Elliott Stuckey and Pam Colello; grandson-in-law, William Colello; great-grandchildren, Madison Stuckey, and Kaleb and Reid Colello; sister, Corene Elliott Ford; several nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives and wonderful friends.
There will be a receiving of friends from 4-5:30 pm Monday at A.S. Turner Funeral Home 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, GA with a service to follow at 5:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Health Center, 1015 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30318.
