Mr. Joe Frank Morrison, of Tucker, died Tuesday, October 27, 2009. He was born November 25, 1918 to Winfield Scott and Katie Morrison. He was one of five children, which included two sets of twins. Joe loved playing sports of all kind, but had a particular love for tennis in his younger years and later moved to golf. He and his twin brother James were Doubles Tennis Champions in Atlanta in high school. Joe served in the U. S. Army during World War II as Staff Sergeant with Battery A, 694th Field Artillery Battalion in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations, participating in the New Guinea and the Luzon campaigns. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal, with 2 Bronze Stars, American Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal and Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Star. Joe retired from Celanese Corporation after 40 years of service and then went on to work with Goodman Decorating. He was a member of the Tucker Lodge #42 F.&A.M and a Scottish Rite Mason. Joe was an active member of Tucker United Methodist Church taking on many tasks including helping with mailings, designing and building sets for church festivities and, of course, ushering. He lived his life giving to others and will be missed by all who knew him. Joe is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Evelyn Lowry Morrison; his loving sister, Katherine Burks; daughters, Joanne Helms, Judy Kinsey and Joyce Morrison; grandchildren, Joe Helms, Karen Carter and Tamela Spencer; great grandchildren, Jake Carter and Kinsey Spencer and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 30, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons. Interment, Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at A. S. Turner & Sons
