John Robert King

July 10, 1921 — November 26, 2016

John Robert King was born July 10, 1921, in DeKalb County, Georgia, and departed this life November 26, 2016. Mr. King is preceded in death by his wife, Anita Ashley King, his parents, John Samuel and Mattie Carr King, four brothers and four sisters. He is survived by a sister, Geraldine (Arnold) Satterfield and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.
John was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps from August 1942 until January 1946.
He received his education from the University of Georgia and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas. He served as a Minister of Education for Candler Park Baptist Church; First Baptist Church, Avondale Estates; and Fortified Hills Baptist Church, Smyrna. He also served in Bouldercrest Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Redan, and Clairmont Hills Baptist Church.
Services will be Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at 2:00pm, in the chapel of A.S. Turner Funeral Home, Decatur, Georgia, with Rev. Fred O. Pitts and Rev. Larry Burgess officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the funeral hour. Interment will be at Redan Cemetery in Redan, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Clairmont Hills Baptist Church, designated for North American and International Missions.
