Joseph Eugene Goldsmith

May 19, 1930 — October 15, 2016

Joseph Eugene Goldsmith, Jr., 86, passed away Saturday, October 15th, 2016, at Emory St. Joseph Hospital. He was the son of Carolyn McLeod Smith and Joseph Eugene Goldsmith, Sr. Gene was born and grew up in Clarkston, Georgia, and was a graduate of Clarkston High School. He spent his entire business career as a floral designer and was the owner of Vann Jernigan Florist. He retired in 2000.

He is survived by a sister, Jane P. Cochran and her husband, Larry W. Cochran, of Ranger, Georgia; nephews, Mark W. Cochran and Joseph M. Cochran; nieces, Helena Cochran-Jones and Diana Cochran; great nephews, Joseph W. Cochran and Anthony M. Cochran, all of Atlanta, Georgia; and great nephew, Ron Tedder, of Athens, Georgia.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 22nd, 2016, at 2 p.m. at St. Marks United Methodist Church, 781 Peachtree St. N.E. Atlanta, Georgia.

The family will receive friends after the service and a light lunch will be served.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to St. Marks United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
