Joseph Thomas Page

May 19, 1947 — July 20, 2022

On Wednesday, July 20th, 2022, Joseph (Joe) Thomas Page passed away at the age of 75. Born on May 19th, 1947 in Miami, Florida, he grew up growing and selling mangos with his brother, Bill, and diligently practicing his violin on his family’s small mango grove.  Joe met Anne Eichelberger in 1972 while both were playing in a summer festival orchestra in Deland, Florida. Joe and Anne married in 1978.

After receiving his bachelor’s degree in physics from Stetson University and a master’s in teaching from Emory University, Joe taught high school science in Atlanta and Chattanooga. While in Chattanooga, he was also the concertmaster of the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra. He moved to Atlanta to accept a job with Southern Bell where he had a successful career in information technology.

In addition to being a loving father and husband, Joe was also a devoted leader in the church, and he was a proud member of the Northlake church of Christ. As part of this community, he spent countless hours visiting members of the church in hospitals and nursing homes and leading other efforts of compassion.  He could also be found quietly improving grounds and facilities tasks that needed a helping hand.

Outside of church, he loved to read with his children and later grandchildren, listen to classical music, and make his famous restaurant quality hummus.

Joe was diagnosed with epilepsy as a young child.  He quietly fought his epilepsy for the remainder of his life, and the family is very grateful to those who helped him in so many ways.  His awkward sense of humor, dedicated compassion and kindness for others, creative intellect and most importantly his devotion to his faith and family will be greatly missed by all those who loved him. Joe is survived by his brother, Bill, wife, Anne, son (Andrew), daughter (Hannah) and four grandchildren: Edward, Ellie, Zain and Emma.

The Page family expresses sincere appreciation for all the prayers, calls, texts, words of encouragement, (strawberry) milkshakes, meals, and acts of kindness shown and expressed to us during his time in the hospital and in his rehabilitation center.

A memorial service and a reception will be held on Saturday, July 30 at 10:00 am at Northlake Church of Christ, Tucker, GA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Camp Northlake or Star-C (star-c.org), a program that provides after school and youth programs for the largely refugee population at Willow Branch in Clarkston. Please include ‘Clarkston/Willow Branch - in memory of Joe Page’.
