Josephine "Jo" Newman Watson

February 11, 1919 — August 25, 2016

Josephine Newman Watson, 97, of Atlanta, beloved wife and mother, passed away on August 25, 2016. Born in Spartanburg County, February 11, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Andy and Lizzie Newman. Jo served as a registered nurse at Emory where she met her late husband of 55 + years, Henry Lester Watson. She enjoyed becoming a full time mother to her two children as well as gardening, reading and painting.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Dempsey and her husband, Mark; and son, John Watson and his wife, Michelle.

The family will receive friends at 2:30 p.m. with a service at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, August 27, at A. S. Turner & Sons Chapel, with Pastor Larry T. Burgess officiating. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, August 28, at Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery, Woodruff, SC.
