Josephine Mchenry Campbell

Mrs. Josephine McHenry Campbell, 90 of Decatur and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died June 3, 2010. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, McCoy C. Campbell; daughter, Luci Newton of Rock Hill, SC, daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Wythe Peyton of Decatur, GA; granddaughters, Laura Peabody, Emily Johnson and her husband Steve, all of Rock Hill, SC and Josephine Peyton of Atlanta; great-grandchildren, Sara and Charlie Alford and Reed Johnson of Rock Hill, SC; sister, Martha M. Cunningham; brothers, Joe Mann McHenry and Richard McHenry, all of Nashville, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe M. and Elizabeth Mann McHenry. Mrs. Campbell attended Ward Belmont in Nashville, and graduated from Vanderbilt University where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.  She and her family moved from Nashville to Decatur, GA in 1950 and resided there until they relocated to Lookout Mt., GA in 1968. After living there for 33 years, they returned to Decatur in 2001. On Lookout Mt., she was an active member of several social and civic organizations, serving as President of the Outlook Club and as chairperson of the Women's Society of the Lookout Mt. Episcopal Church.  In Decatur she was a member of the First United Methodist Church's Paty Class and enjoyed the social activities of the Towne Square Condo. She and her husband shared many interests, most importantly their family and friends, together with music, literature, movies, theater, travel, and antiques. They truly had a love affair that lasted almost 70 years. Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 11:00 A. M. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons. A private burial service will follow at Decatur Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Atlanta Hospice, The American Cancer Society, or The Crohns and Colitis Foundation. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
