Joyce Rivers

Joyce Hayes Rivers, 76, of Conyers, entered into rest Sunday, August 29th, 2021 at Westbury Center of McDonough. Mrs. Rivers was born July 20th, 1945 in Prattville, Alabama to William McKinley Hayes and Iva Lorraine (Hand) Hayes.

A 1967 graduate of Auburn University, she moved to Atlanta to start her teaching career. Over her almost 30 years of teaching, she shared her passion for learning with many students at the Elementary and Middle school level. She married the love of her life, Mike, on July 2, 1977. Joyce was a loving wife and mother, and enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, and caring for animals.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Myra Nell Hayes, and her twin brother Royce. She is survived by her husband, her son Joe (Kella) Rivers, her brother Ted Hayes, and two grandchildren, McKinley and Graydon.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at 1:30 PM at Emory Presbyterian Church in Decatur, GA.
