Julia Swiney Hosmer

Mrs. Julia Swiney Hosmer, age 91, widow of Joseph B. Hosmer, Sr. died Saturday, October 16, 2004.  She was a native of Athens, GA; graduated from the University of Georgia; and received a Masters from Emory University.  She taught in the Atlanta city schools for 33 years and taught art classes at night at Georgia State University.  Mrs. Hosmer received the Outstanding Elementary Teachers of America Award in 1973.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 19th in the chapel of A. S.  Turner & Sons.  Interment Arlington Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Greater Georgia Chapter, Alzheimer?s Association, 1925 Century Blvd., N.E., Suite 10, Atlanta, GA  30345-3315.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
