Kathryn Blanche Niager

Kathryn Blanche Niager passed away on June 14, 2022. She reached the age of 90 on April 9th of this year, and had a birthday celebration with her family. She was born in Atlanta Georgia to parents Martha Aline and Hugh Oliver Brock. They lived on Carmel Ave near where the Carter Presidential Library stands today. She graduated from Bass High School in Little Five Points. She was married to Roy Jones Niager from 1952 until his passing in 1999. She was the youngest of six. All her brothers, father, and her husband served in the military, all but the youngest brother during WWII. Her husband was a school teacher at Clarkston High School, and she worked at the First National Bank. When children came along, she left her job to be home with them. After they reached high school age she went on to a great career with the DuPont Company. She was a 20 year member of the Mountain Park First Baptist church in Lilburn and a previous member of the Clarkston Baptist and Euclid Ave Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and aunt to her family. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Jones Niager, and her brothers, Hugh, Charles, Julian, George, and Eugene Brock.

She is survived by her daughter Kathy Niager, and grandchildren, Austin Lating, and Jenna Lating. Her son Steven Niager and wife Rhonda, grandchild Jessica Mashhoon(AK). Great grandchildren, Maisy Mashhoon, and Hayes Mashhoon. Her niece Patrica Brock(Jerrie), and a host of nieces and nephews.

There will be visitation and service on Monday June 20 at AS Turner & Sons -2773 N. Decatur Rd Decatur, Ga 30031. 404-292-1551. Visitation 12-2 pm. Service at 2pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Mountain Park First Baptist Church c/o in lieu of flowers- 5485 Five Forks Trickum Rd, Stone Mountain Ga 30087 in honor of Kathryn Niager.
