Kathryn Stubley Dance

Kathryn Stubley Dance, 82, of Stone Mountain, formerly of Woodstock, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, passed away September 24, 2007 of heart failure. Preceded in death was her husband of 53 years, Edward Thomas "Tom" Dance. A quiet, strong woman, she was devoted to her faith and family. She enjoyed spending time with family, reading, bible study, bridge with her friends, and playing the organ. In prior years she enjoyed teaching Sunday School, painting, writing poetry, raising their six children, and bookkeeping for her and her husband's printing business. Active in Drama and Literary Clubs in high school and college, she won awards for her acting and writing. A native of Knoxville, TN, (where she met Tom) Kathryn attended the University of Tennessee and later attended the New York Academy of Performing Arts. She and Tom were married upon his return from service in WWII.  Later in their marriage, she and Tom were members of the "Friendship Force" traveling to Soviet Georgia, staying with a host family to learn more about their culture and later reciprocating to the same family when they traveled to the U.S. Also preceded in death were her father, Glenn Stubley; mother, Glenna Houghton Stubley; brother, Glenn Stubley Jr.; and sisters, Harriet Stubley, Martha Pace, Glenna Lindsay and Vivian Domm. Surviving are her six children, Eddie Dance and wife Anna, Elaine Simon and husband Gerry, Mike Dance and wife Donna, Kathy Dance-Guimond and husband Dan, Diane Harrison and husband Buddy, and Bruce Dance and wife Lynne; eleven grandchildren, Tommy Dance and wife Lisa, Lee Yarber and wife Amy, Christopher Yarber and wife Theresa, Scott Dance, Yeager Dance, Derek Harrison and wife Lisa, Angie Greeson and husband Chris, Trey Harrison, Dustin Harrison, Brett Dance and Rachel Dance; eight great-grandchildren, Morgan Dance, Ashley, Alex & Ryan Yarber, Hunter & Haylee Harrison, and Alyssa & Ansley Greeson; and sisters, Sue Rowan of Huntsville, AL and Carolyn Keller of Knoxville, TN.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September  27th at 1 p.m. at Embry Hills United Methodist Church, Dr. Dan Sweatt officiating. Burial will follow in North Atlanta Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
