Launa Crockett Williams

May 25, 1926 — June 16, 2020

LaUna Williams passed away peacefully Tuesday June 16, 2020 at the age of 94. LaUna was born in Bristol, TN to Pearl and John Arnold. She graduated from Tennessee High School and became nursing assistant.

LaUna had a beautiful singing voice and frequently sang solos in the church and for weddings. She was a talented seamstress and loved to draw and paint.

She married Joseph (Joe) Crockett on September 13, 1958. Joe and LaUna lived in Florida, Massachusetts, and settled in Georgia. LaUna and Joe were active members in the Methodist Church singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, and serving on many committees. They raised three children, Leah, Heather, and Joe III until Joe Sr.’s death in 1980. Eight years later, LaUna married Thurman Clement, both members of St. Timothy Methodist Church.

They enjoyed many trips together and time working around her house. Thurman passed away in 1994. LaUna married James Taylor Williams, her high school sweetheart, after the passing of both their spouses. JT and LaUna had many happy years together going between his home in Bristol, TN and her home in Stone Mountain, GA. JT passed away in 2004.

LaUna loved her family and her church with all her heart. She was happiest when she was raising her three children. She adored her grandchildren and remained active in her church until she could no longer attend in person. She moved to Morningside Assisted Living in 2019. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and sister Mary Ellen Helton.

She is survived by daughter Leah Chapman, husband Michael, daughter Heather Anderton, husband Russ, and son Joseph (Joe) Crockett, wife Pam. Grandchildren include Alicia Byers, husband Seth, Christina Black, husband Thaddeus, Tony Crockett, Elijah Crockett, Sean Anderton, and Chase Anderton.
