Mrs. Laurette Harralson deJarnette, 81, a native Atlantan, died Sunday, May 23, 2010. She received a BA degree from Judson College in Marion, Alabama, Class of 1950. Mrs. deJarnette retired as Director of Employee Benefits from Southern Bell after 38 years of service. She was a long-time member of the BellSouth Pioneers and the Heaton Park Garden Club. Mrs. deJarnette was a member of Decatur First United Methodist Church and the Kerr Friendship Sunday School class for over 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Charles deJarnette. Surviving Mrs. deJarnette are her sons and daughters-in-law, Phil and Sally deJarnette of Lilburn, Mike and Stephanie deJarnette of Roswell; grandchildren, Jessica, Nathan, Drew, Brian; sister, Elizabeth Simmons of Decatur. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 11:00 A. M. at Decatur First United Methodist Church with Bishop L. Bevel Jones and Dr. David Naglee officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Methodist Church Cemetery in Norcross. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
