Lockie Maxine Childress Lipsey

Lockie Maxine Childress Lipsey, 76, of Decatur, GA, passed away on December 12, 2007. She is survived by her beloved son, Hal Lipsey; her daughter-in-law, Rev. Ellynda Price Lipsey; her granddaughter, Laura Telaku Lipsey; sister, Rushia Banks of Bristol, VA; sister, Ruth Ann Elswick of Richmond, VA; brothers, James Childress and Sammy Childress of Breaks, VA; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lipsey grew up in Breaks, Virginia in a large family. She married H. A. Lipsey, Jr., of Lambert, MS in September 1954, and their son Hal was born in the spring of 1956. She especially enjoyed her years teaching children. In recent years she loved her friends at Clairmont Oaks and Wesley Woods. She was a member of Decatur First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed nature, being of service to her community and lived a life of quiet dignity. A graveside service will be held in Breaks, VA on Saturday, December 15th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Visitation with the family and a memorial service will be held at a later time. A. S.
