Lorry Eugene Moser

Mr. Lorry Eugene Moser went to Heaven on Monday, November 17, 2008. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 9, 1913, the son of Walter A. and Gertrude B. Moser. He attended the University of Utah and graduated in 1938 with a degree in Engineering. Aviation was just growing to an important role in transportation and he wrote his thesis about Aviation, which impressed the people at Piper Aircraft so they offered him a “Work-Scholarship”. He worked for Piper, studying all aspects of planes, as well as how to fly. After a year of selling airplanes, he was sent to San Antonio, Texas to work for their Sales Representative there.  Due to the growing feelings of imminent war, the company worked with the government to build a field just west of the city and start an Army Air Corp Pilot Training program. Lorry was one of the first pilots to be trained for the Army Air Corps Pilot Instruction. After the war, he worked for Beach Aircraft., then left aviation to work for Westinghouse in Pittsburgh. In July 1950 he was transferred to the Atlanta office, where he worked until he retired in August 1981. He is survived by Beverly S. (Becky), his wife of 66 years; sons, Walter J., Richard C., and Scott A.; also Dorothy W., Annelle S. and Marsha H., Daughters-in-law; grandchildren, Calista  Anne Waddy, Bevlynn Moser, Bruce Moser, Benjamin Moser, Brent Moser, Elizabeth Moser; and great granddaughter, Annlynn Waddy.  A memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 26th at 2 pm at St. Bartholomew  Episcopal Church, Rev.
