Lucy Daniel Shulenberger

August 20, 1908 — January 10, 2008

Lucy Irene Daniel Shulenberger, age 99, of Christian City went home to be with her Lord and Savior and her two precious boys, Billy and Benny on January 10, 2008.  Born in Henry County on August 20, 1908, she is the last survivor of 8 siblings.  Armed with a third grade education, determination and good genes, she was a voracious reader, traveled the world and taught Sunday School at Valley Brook Baptist Church, where she was a Charter member for over 50 years.  She was a prize winning gardener, animal lover, wonderful cook and earned the nickname "Sanibel Hooker" for the her fishing prowess by her buddies on Sanibel Is, FL.  She carried the torch in the 1996 Olympics at the age of 88.  To her children, she was simply the best Mother anyone could have.  She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Cecil Gaddy, Fairburn; grandchildren, Stephanie Shulenberger, Jean Blattner, Steven Gaddy, Deborah Lindeman; 6 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and her Christian City family, where she affectionally known as "Miss Lucy".  Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons.  Rev. Philip Johnson and Rev. Georgia Morris officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Saturday, January 12, 2008.  A. S. Turner & Sons
