Margaret K. Dykes

The memorial service for Margaret Kelly Dykes, 83, of Decatur will be held Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 10 AM in the chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Mrs. Dykes died August 2, 2007. The body was cremated. Mrs. Dykes was born in Granby, Missouri, the fifth child of Charles Curtis Kelly and Effie Elsie Scholes. She was educated in the Granby, Missouri school system and attended Southwest Missouri State College. During World War II while working for Western Union she met and married her husband, Col. James M. Dykes, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Dykes was a member of Decatur First United Methodist Church where she was very active in the Kerr-Friendship Sunday school class. A consummate homemaker, loving wife and devoted mother, Mrs. Dykes is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, James M. Jr. and Cheryl Dykes of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, Thomas and Helen Dykes of Atlanta; her daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Steve Pusey of Dunwoody; sister, Evelyn K. Goade of Green Valley, Arizona; brother-in-law, Patrick Wildman of Bend, Oregon; grandsons, Andrew McKendree Dykes of Social Circle, Joseph McKendree Pusey of Dunwoody; and granddaughter, Margaret Claire Dykes of Atlanta; one niece and several nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the music and drama ministry of Decatur First United Methodist Church, 300 East Ponce de Leon Avenue, Decatur, Georgia 30030 and to Guiding Eyes for the Blind, P.O.
