Margie Lee Ashby

Margie Chafin Ashby of Decatur, GA, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 15, 2012 from congestive heart failure. The oldest of ten children, she is survived by brothers Alex Williams (Eloise) of Athens, JC Williams of Fairburn, Charles Williams of Riverdale, Julius Williams (Sherry) of Arkansas; sisters Nancy Shuman, Cecelia Cohen and Eleanor Williams of Conyers, and Martha Russell of Stuart, FL. Margie was preceded in death by her husbands Hugh Chafin, Sr. and John T. Ashby, her oldest son Hugh Chafin, Jr. and her sister Ann Sparks. Margie retired from Southern Bell and was a member of The Pioneers Club. She was a dedicated member of Forrest Hills Baptist Church for 40 years. Margie is survived by her son Doug Chafin (Bonnie) of Avondale Estates, two granddaughters, Amy Howard (Todd) of Grayson, Michele Chafin of Fayetteville, and two great-grandchildren, Joshua William Howard and Emily Ashby Howard and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons in Decatur with Pastor Ray Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Flora Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.
