Marguerite Sims Goldsmith, 89, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2011. Marguerite was born on May 5, 1921 in Lawrenceville, GA where she lived with her parents the late Mary Beulah Sims and Henry Hill Sims and 10 brothers and sisters. Marguerite was married to Jim Goldsmith in 1946 and had three children whom she dearly loved, Elizabeth (Betty), Jim Jr. and Alfred. She was a longtime resident of Decatur and enjoyed gardening, bridge and creating a loving and beautiful home for her family. Her home was always open to her brothers, sisters and the numerous nieces and nephews who came to rely on her warmth and loving acceptance throughout their lives. In 2005 Marguerite & Jim moved to Sunrise Assisted Living in Lilburn where Marguerite enjoyed making many friends. After the death of Jim in 2006, she moved to Laurel Grove in Lawrenceville where she was again able to garden, play bridge, participate in balloon volleyball and enjoy the company of new and old friends. In 2010 Marguerite returned to Sunrise Assisted Living where she was welcomed by many who remembered her. She was able to spend her last months comfortably in her home there receiving family and friends who were so dear to her. She was a longtime member of North Decatur United Methodist Church and currently a member of Cannon United Methodist Church. She will be greatly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Goldsmith and Wayne Hoheisel; son, James W. Goldsmith, Jr. and son and daughter-in-law, Alfred and Cynthia Goldsmith; grandchildren, Mark Kessler, Lisa Knight, Claire Goldsmith, Russell Goldsmith, Laura Goldsmith, Andrea Hoheisel Mace and Gwen Hoheisel Blom; and three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, March 11, 2011 at the Chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons. Those desiring may send contributions to the International Myeloma Foundation, International Headquarters, 12650 Riverside Drive, Suite 206, North Hollywood, CA 91607 or through www.myeloma.org. The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
