Marie Patrick Nash

Marie Patrick Nash, 95, of Decatur, GA, went home to be with her Lord on March 2, 2009 while living in Cary, NC. She was born in Putnam County, GA on October 19,1913 to Lillian Cathey Patrick and Grover Cleveland Patrick. After her mother's early death, she was raised bya loving stepmother, Hattye Byrd Patrick. A faithful servant of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Mrs. Nash was baptized at the age of 8 at Capitol Avenue Baptist Church. She also served as an active member of Kirkwood Baptist Church, Moreland Avenue Baptist Church and Rainbow Park Baptist Church. She spent most of her 95 years in the Atlanta area and retired as an executive secretary from Fulton National Bank after 20 years of service. Mrs. Nash, known as "Sweet Marie" to many, was an avid gardener whose hospitality was unmatched. A Southern cook, her Sunday dinners will be remembered by numerous family and friends. She was a generous mother and grandmother sharing a spirit offun and laughter with all who knew her. Mrs. Nash was a devoted wife to John T. Nash, who preceded her in death. Her memory will be forever treasured by her family and friends. She is survived by daughters, Kay Fischer and husband Eric of Colleyville, TX; Annette Wells and husband Brent of Cary, NC; and son John T. Nash, Jr. and wife Beth of Summerfield! NC; sister Elizabeth Fuller of Fayetteville; and brothers Harold Patrick and wife Grace of Decatur; Ed Patrick of Morrow; and sister-in-Iaw Jeannette Hall of Waco, TX; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a large extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mrs. Nash was also preceded in death by her sister and best friend Katherine Steely of Cedartown, and brother Grover Patrick of Atlanta. The family will be receiving friends to celebrate her life on Thursday from 5-7 PM at A. S. Turner & Sons funeral home in Decatur, GA. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home chapel on Friday, March 6, at 11:00 AM.
