Marilyn S. Kane of Decatur, GA died January 18, 2012, at the age of 85. She had been a resident of Budd Terrace at Wesley Woods for the past six years. She was a long time member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Marilyn was born on December 4, 1926 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the second child of seven to Louis and Julia Noll Schnurr. The family moved to Larchmont, NY where she graduated from Mamaroneck (NY) High School and the Berkeley Secretarial School in NYC. Soon after, she met her future husband, Paul Thomas Kane of Larchmont. They married and moved to Manhattan where their two children were born. The family relocated to Decatur in 1955. She was employed by the USDA Soil Conservation Service for over 20 years, until retiring in 1981. She was an avid reader and volunteer at St. Thomas More Church and School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul in 1992 and is survived by her daughter, Linda Kane Prudhomme and husband, Charles of Hot Springs, AR; her son, Paul Thomas Kane, Jr. and wife, Rene' V. of Atlanta; four grandchildren, Daniel C. Prudhomme and his wife, Allison of Maitland, FL, Scot M. Prudhomme of Atlanta, Amelia V. Kane and Austin V. Kane, both of Atlanta; great grandchildren, Claire and Matthew Prudhomme of FL; two brothers, two sisters, and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 24th, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Decatur. Inurnment will follow in the Decatur City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at A. S. Turner and Sons in Decatur. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation.
