Mary Alice Blalock

Mary Alice Blalock was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina daughter of the late Henry Taylor Blalock and Phoebe Bowen Blalock on August 3, 1938.She was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and Columbia College in Columbia SC. She taught Biology 1 and 11 at Avondale High School in Avondale Estates, GA from 1960 to 1990.She is survived by two sisters, Patsy B, Skinner of Charleston, SC and Phoebe B. Bundy of Robertsdale, AL She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a great, great niece. She was predeceased by a nephew. Miss Blalock was of the Presbyterian faith and a member of Clairmont Presbyterian Church in Decatur, GA. "Miss B" will be fondly remembered by her former students from Avondale High of whom many she considered her extended family. Mary Alice was known for her love of travel, theater, and music. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 am at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg, SC on Saturday December 14, 2013. In lieu of flowers it is requested that all donations be made in her memory to the Clairmont Presbyterian Church, 1994 Clairmont Road, Decatur, Ga. 30033. The family will have visitation on Friday December 13th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home at 2773 North Decatur Road in Decatur, Ga.
