Mary Anne Summers, age 82, of Atlanta, Georgia, joined her savior, Jesus Christ, on April 21, 2015. Mary Anne was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, a loving and faithful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She graduated from Brown High School in Atlanta in 1950. Planning the 50th high school reunion was one of her countless treasured memories and she maintained close friendships with many of her classmates. Her past accomplishments are numerous. They include working at the Southeastern Fair, Lakewood Speedway, and with the Georgia Tourism Committee. Mary Anne worked for a number of Georgia politicians and public figures including Governors, Congressmen and Senators. Her efforts also involved issues of Civil Rights. Many politicians relied upon Mary Anne for strategic skills in running political campaigns. She was a confidant and encourager to many. She was considered "a brilliant political operative." During the years that she worked for the United States Congress, she also served two terms as Senior Warden at Christ Episcopal Church in Washington D.C.. Mary Anne was a fighter who overcame health complications, yet maintained a beautiful smile and great sense of humor. She was one of a kind and loved by many. Mary Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. James Ryland White (Wilma Butler) and her husband, Charles William Summers ("Stump"). Those left to cherish Mary Anne's memory include children (and spouses), Bill and Lisa Summers, Robert and Natalie Summers, and Donna and David Hall; grandchildren (and spouses), Beth and Steven Cole, Jonathan and Dana Summers, Katie and Robert Casares, Jenny and Gavin Guillot, Courtney and Clay Coffman, Taylor Hall, Davis Summers, and Audrey Summers; and great-grandchildren, Maggie Cole, Patrick Cole, Katie Fleming, Lylah Coffman and Cullen Guillot as well as many dear family members and faithful friends. The life of Mary Anne Summers will be celebrated on Saturday, April 25, at 2:00 PM at Clairmont Hills Baptist Church in Decatur. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 24, from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at A.S. Turner & Sons in Decatur and on Saturday, April 25 from 12:00 - 2:00 pm at Clairmont Hills Baptist Church. A. S.
