Frances B. Bennett, who's soul departed this earth to be with God on April 13, 2013, at age 98, was born and raised in Chattanooga, TN, the daughter of Claude and Mattie Burgess (deceased). Frances married Leon L. Bennett in 1939 and afterward went to work for Retail Credit Co. (Equifax) where she became the secretary to the district sales manager for the Southeast area. Leon and Frances were life-long participants in the Yaarab Temple Shrine organization and played significant leadership roles therein over their lives. Frances participated in the Daughters of the Nile, an auxiliary organization for the wives and daughters of Shriners, which, like the Shrine, works diligently for Shrine Hospitals throughout the Northern hemisphere. Frances served as the organization's Queen of the Nile in 1976. She and Leon traveled extensively over their 64 years of married life, and they were quite involved, both from a business and social perspective, in much of the growth of the Atlanta area during the second half of the twentieth century. Frances was also a member of the Embry Hills United Methodist Church, where she and Leon attended and served for many years. Frances lived a long and out-going life, filled with activity and the zest of doing so many things for and with others. Indeed, Frances and Leon lived lives of such generosity - of spirit, friendship, time, counsel, stories, humor, and of material goods. It can certainly be said of Frances that she pursued life's experiences with the joy of dedication, living fully and spreading life among all those she encountered to the greatest extent. Frances was a wonderful friend to many people and organizations, and she was most at home when having heart-to-heart talks with friends and family. Frances is survived by a sister-in-law, as well as many nieces and nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and great grandnieces/grandnephews. Viewing will be held at Embry Hills United Methodist Church at 10:30 am, April 18, followed by services at 11:30 am. Interment will be at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Embry Hills United Methodist Church, 3304 Henderson Mill Rd., Atlanta, GA 30341. A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
