Mary Virginia Tucker

August 27, 1926 — July 5, 2014

Virginia Jones Tucker went to be with her Jesus on July 5, 2014.
Virginia was born August 27, 1926 in Molena Georgia to Robert Cecil Jones and Jewel Pilkenton Jones. She graduated from Molena High School and attended Georgia State University. She accepted Christ as a young woman, and was baptized in the Flint River in Molena, GA. She moved to Atlanta, lived in a boarding house on Peachtree St. and worked for Rich's and AT andT.
She married William (Bill) D. Tucker on April 15, 1950. When Bill' mother died suddenly in July 1950, she quit her job to be able to take care of Bill's 8 year old brother, John, who came to live with them. Being involved in their local church was a very important part of her life. She was a member of Druid Hills Baptist Church and a charter member of Clairemont Hills Baptist Church. They moved to Orlando in 1967 where they attended Winter Park Baptist Church. They moved back to Atlanta in 1977 and attended Briarlake Baptist Church. She enjoyed being in charge of the visitation to the nursing and assisted living homes. She moved to Gainesville Ga in 2003 and joined Lakewood Baptist Church.

Virginia always had fun in her life. She had a great sense of humor, loved to sew and knit, loved to grow flowers and always had a big heart for elderly friends. She was involved with meals on wheels, WMU, taught preschool, enjoyed entertaining at her house, loved to shop and travel..especially to New Smyrna Beach. We will miss her dearly.

Preceding her in death were her husband; Bill, her parents, siblings; Evelyn Anderson, Frederick Jones, Henry Jones, Martha Austin.
She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Moore (Keith), Gayle Tucker, brother in law, John Tucker (Allene), sister, Jefflyn Massengale (Hiram). Three grandchildren, Ryan Moore (Jen), Ansley Moore (Dave), and Chris Moore (Susan) and seven great grandchildren, Sage, Oscar, Reah, Levi, Lila Kate, Zeke and Fender. Also lots of special nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Briarlake Baptist Church, 3715 Lavista Road Decatur, GA 30033-1099 on Thursday, July 10th at 11:00am
with Dr. James Austin officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour before the service at the church. Her remains will be buried at the family cemetery at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Molena, Georgia at 2:00pm
