Mrs. Maymie (Mazie) Elizabeth Blalock Perkins, former Bell South Telephone Company employee, died Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the age of 87. Mrs. Perkins was born in Decatur, Georgia on August 1, 1925 to the late James E. Blalock and Lois Shepard Blalock. She grew up in Avondale, Georgia and graduated in the Avondale High School class of 1942. After graduating high school Mrs. Perkins began her career with Southern Bell Telephone Company. It was during this time she met and married her beloved husband, Clinton Perkins, Jr. They remained married for forty years until Mr. Perkins' death in 2005. After her marriage Mrs. Perkins adopted Clint's three children, completed her career with the telephone company and enjoyed hobbies such as bowling, golf and travel. She spent the last several years of her life in a retirement community and nursing home in Seminole, Florida under the loving care of her nephew, James E. Watts, and his family. Mrs. Perkins is survived by daughters Sidnah Perkins Doby and Cynthia Perkins Panter and son, Clinton Perkins III. She is also survived by six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and her nephew, James E. Watts and wife, Loren, and their three children. The family will receive friends and family prior to the service, starting at 12:30 on Friday the 15th, with funeral services starting at 2PM in the chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons. Rev Mike Wadley will officiate. She will be laid to rest in the Decatur Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 250 Williams Street, Atlanta, GA 30303.
