Michael Lee Mravich

January 25, 1943 — December 29, 2019

Michael Lee Mravich was 76 when he passed away on December 29, 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia after spending a lovely Christmas in Savannah with his daughters Barbara and Vanessa. Michael "Mike" was returning home to Columbus, Mississippi where he had lived for 35 years. He retired in Columbus from the Air Force after proudly serving his country for many years.
Mike was born in Portland, Indiana but soon moved to Chicago, Illinois which he considered his hometown. It was here that he became a fan of the Chicago Bears. He joined the USAF after high school and served as an aircraft mechanic. He enjoyed seeing the world both during his military career and after. Many of his fondest memories and stories are connected to his time in the Air Force. On his travels, he met his beloved and funny wife, Shizuko "Shi-Shi," in Okinawa, Japan when she brought him a cup of coffee. They were married for 42 years until she passed away in 2010.
A Celebration of Life service was held by his many friends at the Southern Cruisers Car Club. With his lifelong love of classic cars, Mike was an avid member of the club. Meticulous and dedicated, he could fix it all, and had also been known as a BBQ expert, a champion bowler, and could often be found solving a crossword puzzle.
Along with his wife, Shi-Shi, Mike was predeceased in death by his parents, Anthony and Mabel, and a brother, Roger. He is survived by his two daughters who miss him. A private service is planned for the summer in Indiana.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to friends and family including Jimmie and Noriko, Kiyomi, John, Erwin and Cindy, Janice, and Carol. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palmer Home for Children in Columbus, Mississippi.
