Mildred Frances Wilson

Mildred Wilson of Tucker died Thursday, December 13, 2007. She was born July 20, 1919 in the "Pea Ridge Community" of DeKalb County and was one of thirteen - eight children born to the family of John Andrew Wilson and Vivian Pinnell Wilson, who died at the age of 33, and five born to the family of John Andrew Wilson and Montine Welborn Wilson.  Mildred grew up at Rehoboth Baptist Church where she was saved and baptized.  She lived most of her life here, except for a few years in Chicago.  Mildred graduated from Clarkston High School in 1937.  She was an active participant in sports - not only at Rehoboth, but she played Semi-Pro Women's Basketball in the 1940's on the Atlanta Sports Arena Blues Team.  She was very active in the softball program not only as a coach, but also as a player.  Mildred retired from Sinclair and Texaco in 1980. Mildred had a special place in her heart for missions.  She was an inspiration to everyone she came in contact with and never met a stranger.  For many years she led the Young Women's Association, at Rehoboth, and taught youth Sunday school and adult ladies classes. She was truly a remarkable Christian.  Mildred is survived by her sisters; Ina Wilson Greer, Mary Wilson Johnson, Earline Wilson Bridges and brothers; Ralph Wilson, David Wilson, and Johnny Wilson, as well as many nieces and nephews and their families.  She is now reunited with her loved ones that have gone on to Heaven before her; sisters, Margaret Wilson Milford, Hazel Wilson Cofer, Louise Wilson Buice; and brothers, Joe Wilson, Robert Wilson, and Amos Wilson. Funeral services will be held at Rehoboth Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Sunday, December 16th, Rev. Bobby Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
