Millard Harris Baker

BAKER, Millard –
Mr. Millard Harris Baker, age 74, of Lawrenceville, Georgia passed away September 14, 2010 due to heart disease and kidney failure. He was born March 8, 1936, the youngest son of Kenneth and Margaret Baker, and was one of five children. He was born in South Carolina, but lived much of his life in Decatur, Georgia where he attended Decatur High School graduating in 1954. After serving in the United States Marine Corps, Millard received a law degree from Woodrow Wilson Law School in Atlanta. On June 26, 1959, he married his wife of fifty-one years, the former Peggy Moore of Decatur, Georgia. They were blessed with a son, a daughter, and later four adored grandchildren. Millard was employed for 35 years by Bellsouth retiring in 1991. At the time of his death he was a part-time employee of RTS Associates. Millard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother and he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Peggy; son, Steven; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bryan Fisher; grandson, Gregg Baker; granddaughters, Jessica Baker, and Erica and Ansley Bane; brother and sister-in-law, John and Barbara Baker; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and J. J. Allen; numerous nieces and nephews; and by additional beloved family and friends including the Burton Group. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 2:30 PM in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons. In lieu of flowers and for those so desiring, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, the National Kidney Foundation, or to the charity of your choice.
