Mrs. Emily A. Pennington

Emily A. Pennington died Sunday, February 24, 2008. She was born in Barwick, Thomas County, GA to Verda Ayers Beatty and Oscar Beatty. She was married to Thaddeus Marion Pennington for 49 years. Surviving children are Kenneth Michael Pennington, Anne Pennington, and Patricia Pennington. Surviving brothers and sisters are Truitt Miles Beatty, Nancy Smith, Shirley McNanny, and Wayne, Randal, Darrel and Alvin Beatty. She is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Emily drew people in with her a charm, her grace, her generosity and her love. Emily's home was always open to family, friends, and strangers in need. Everyone gathered at her table for replenishment, filling their bodies and their souls with the wholesome goodness she served. Emily gave herself as a friend to all but for many she was a mother, raising generations of children beyond her own. Her love surpassed barriers of blood or distance, and her legacy is carried on by those who knew Emily and hold her close in their hearts. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Friday, February 29, 2008 at the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Rev. Larry T. Burgess officiating.  Interment will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
