Nancy Elizabeth Addison

Nancy Elizabeth Addison, musician and writer, passed away unexpectedly in Decatur GA on Sep 29, 2021 at the age of 68. Born in Knoxville Tennessee to James Addison and Laura (Capps) Addison and growing up in Decatur GA, Nancy was active in Girl Scouts and then on the drill team at Columbia High School. While at the University of Georgia she joined Sigma Kappa sorority and got her Journalism degree in 1975. After working a few years Nancy returned to college at Georgia Tech studying Architecture. She worked in the field of Architecture for several years but her passion was always for music and writing. She became a self-employed harpist playing at various venues around the Atlanta area, and was very active in the Folk Harp community. She also worked at her own writing and doing editing and ghostwriting for others. Nancy enjoyed travel and made some trips abroad, including to the British Isles for sightseeing and listening to traditional Irish music in the pubs. Nancy loved dogs, particularly Bull Terriers, owning two of her own, first Ursa and later Leia. She was a member of St Patrick's Episcopal Church for most of her adult life before moving to Dahlonega. Nancy had many friends who will remember her fondly for her warmth and sense of community, as exemplified by her annual Christmas cookie baking parties. Nancy is predeceased by her mother Laura Capps Addison. She is survived by her father James E Addison and step-mother Betty Addison of Decatur, brothers Chris (Jasper GA), Steve (Atlanta, GA), and Mike (Milton, GA), and 4 nieces. A service will be arranged at a future date.
