Patricia Gantt

Patricia Gantt, 79, of Forked River NJ, passed away on January 20, 2022, with her daughter, Donna, and granddaughter, Kelly by her side, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. She was born on July 3, 1942 in Paterson, New Jersey, the daughter of Kurt Rickenback and Doretta Birchenough Rickenback. She was a loving mother to her daughter Donna Gantt-Milana and son Wayne Gantt and a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren; Kyle Milana , Ryan Milana , Sean Milana, Kelly Milana, Taylor and Hailey Gantt. Patricia is survived by her adored big brother, William Rickenback, and nephew Will Rickenback and niece Suzanne Taylor . Patricia leaves behind many friends, including her beloved friend Sherry Cronk, Eleanor Solloway, Lee Lim and Edward Angster.
Patricia graduated from Paterson Central High School, class of 1959. She waitressed, taught English and at the age of 48 found her passion as a Nurse. Patricia worked at Community Medical Center, in Toms River NJ, as a Registered Nurse for 18 years and retired in 2008. Patricia spent many hours giving back to others in need through volunteering at Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity, JBJ Soul Kitchen and building homes in the Dominican Republic with Groups Of Extraordinary Students.
Patricia was a soft-spoken, loving, kind-hearted woman with an adventurous streak. Family and close friends will fondly remember her rollerskating through the neighborhood and at 74 celebrating her granddaughter's college graduation by skydiving. She enjoyed reading, gardening and hiking in the National Parks. This past June Patricia fulfilled a life-long dream of hiking, horseback riding and white water rafting in Glacier National Park with her family. She loved to travel and explore new places. Her adventures took her to Europe, many National Parks, islands, and most of the United States.
Patricia will always be remembered for her sharp mind, kind heart, and passion for life. She will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She is forever in our hearts.
A Funeral Mass will be held for Patricia Gantt on Saturday, February 12th, at 10:30 am at Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 685 Hooper Avenue, Toms River NJ 08753.
