Philip Duncombe Kane, age 60, devoted husband and brother who was a Decatur resident for 20 years, went to be with Christ on Tuesday afternoon after an extended battle with cancer. Born in Manhattan, New York, son of Robert and Aileen Kane, he is survived by his Wife of 9 years, Robin Kane, of Decatur, brother, Cameron Morrison Kane, of Marietta, Cameron's wife Ginger Kane, and nephews Bennett and Wyatt Kane. Philip was a well-known mental health professional, who worked in the field for more than twenty years. He earned a BS degree from New York Technical Institute in Brookville, N.Y. then a Masters degree in Psychology from Long Island University in N.Y. in 1985. He became the director of an innovative program serving mentally disabled adults in N.Y., before moving to Atlanta in 1989. From 1991 to 2009, he served both mentally disabled and mentally ill patients at the Clifton Springs Mental Health Center, before retiring earlier this year. Philip's celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 24th at 3:00 PM at A. S. Turner & Sons, 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, GA 30033. Visitation is at 2 PM.
