Ray Canglin

February 17, 1918 — November 16, 2008

Ray Canglin of Stone Mountain, Georgia was born February 17, 1918 and passed away on November 16, 2008 at home with his family at his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Zinna and Harry E. Ciangaglini from Italy; his sisters, Doreen and Cassandra; his brother, Norman; sons-in- law, Raymond Landress and Cliff Young; grandson, Terry Landress; and granddaughter, Penny Young.  He is survived by his wife of 66 years Lila Canglin; brother, Rick from  Pittman  New Jersey; daughters, Jeanette Young of Atlanta and Kay Landress Hartman of Lawrenceville; grandchildren, Yvonne Young  of Norcross, Gary Landress and wife Bonnie of Suwanee, Don Landress and  wife Cindy of Snellville, Jackie Ray of Clearwater, Florida, Cecelia Landress of Lawrenceville, and Gayla Davis and husband Pat of Loganville; great grandchildren, Cheri  and husband Paul, Jason  and wife Nicolle, Adam and wife Diana, Katie, Nicole, Tiffany and husband Ricky, Brian, Christy, Derek and Christana; great great grandchildren, Breann, Chase, Alli Grace, Walker, Halley, and Jake, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ray was a kind, generous and loving husband, father and grandfather. He never met a stranger, always had a smile, was quick to help, and always made you feel comfortable in his home. His home was the place to be for any of the holidays as the entire family would gather there, where grandchildren were always the center of his attention. Ray Canglin was also a  successful  businessman who took pride in taking care of his customers ,  through his multiple businesses over the years in DeKalb County, Ray's Tailors and Cleaners, Ray's The Master's Closet and Ray's Formal Wear.  Ray Canglin loved and proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Corp during World War II. In lieu of flowers, a gift can be made in his name to Healthfield OSB of Lawrenceville, the American Cancer Society or the American Kidney Foundation. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Dr. J. Truett Gannon officiating.  The family will receive friends on November 19th from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM. at A. S. Turner and Sons, 2733 North Decatur Road, Decatur Georgia.
