Rexford Louis Young

Rexford Louis Young, 71, of Decatur passed away on Sunday April 28, 2013 following a courageous battle with colon cancer. A native of Orlando, FL, he resided in Decatur for the last 30 years. Mr. Young graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in Chemistry. Following graduation, Mr. Young was employed by the Dow Chemical Company in Cincinnati, OH as a research chemist. Following his move to Decatur, Mr. Young was employed as a sales associate at Macy's, where he worked for nearly 30 years prior to his recent retirement. Mr. Young was a faithful member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, and had a particularly fond love of roses and dogwood trees. He is survived by his sister, Beverly Young Bellows; brother, Robert Young and several nieces and nephews. His funeral mass will be held at 2:00 pm Friday May 3, 2013 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Monsignor Paul Fogarty officiating. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Orlando, FL on Monday May 6. A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
