Ricardo Marcelino Gonzalez

Ricardo Gonzalez, age 99, passed on the morning of November 22, 2022. He was born June 2, 1923 in Havana, Cuba to his late parents Isabel and Ricardo Gonzalez .

 In 1968 he immigrated to the United States with his wife and two daughters via the Freedom Flights. They lived in Atlanta for a time before setting down roots in Decatur.

 He was a devoted husband and father. He loved his new country and the opportunities it afforded his family.

 He worked at the Hyatt Regency downtown where he once met President Jimmy Carter and Burt Reynolds.

 He lived a long full life and is survived by daughters Miriam Gonzalez and Isabel Wagner, son-in-law Steve Wagner, grandsons Steven and Corey Wagner, granddaughter Ashley Callis and Steven’s wife Elizabeth. He leaves behind three precious great-grandchildren McAllister, McKinnley and Kai. He has now been reunited with his dear wife Bienvenida who passed in 2015.

 Visitation will be Sunday, November 27 from 3-6PM at A.S. Turner & sons in Decatur. Service at Turner’s is set for Tuesday, November 29 at 1:30PM.
