Richard Tyler Reynolds

Richard Tyler Reynolds, 57, of Scottdale, Georgia died early Wednesday morning of complications from prostate cancer in Piedmont Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Reynolds was a native of Gadsden, Alabama, the son of Helen Slade Reynolds, and the late Tony L. Reynolds. He was the grandson of the late John Gordon Slade and Mary Alma Barfield Slade; and Tony Reynolds and Ruby White Reynolds. He is survived by one brother, John Timothy Reynolds of Hull, Massachusetts. Mr. Reynolds was a graduate of Gadsden State Junior College; The University of Mississippi and held a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Alabama. He held numerous roles as an elementary school teacher for almost thirty years having taught in the Gadsden Public Schools, and the DeKalb County Georgia School System. He had recently retired from teaching in November. He was an avid traveler, having spent most of his summer breaks in Europe, Mexico and the Caribbean islands. A memorial service will be held this Friday, December 2, at 3:00 p.m. at the A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, Georgia. The family will receive visitors one-hour prior to the memorial service. Interment will be a graveside service on Saturday, December 3, at the Crestwood Cemetery, Gadsden, Alabama. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the American Cancer Society or to an education-related charity.
