Robert (Bob) T. Brown

Robert (Bob) Timothy Brown age 87 of Decatur passed away August 27, 2022.   Bob was born in Jonesboro, Georgia to late Walter Thomas Brown and Winnie Mae Jones Brown.  He proudly served in the United States Air Force, enlisting in 1954 and stationed at the Kirksville, MO 790^th AC&W Radar Squadron.  He served 8 years in active duty and reservist duty.  He was awarded Airman of the Month, Honor Guard Designation and promoted to Technical Sergeant with recognition.

Bob was preceded in death by his siblings, Hendon, Marguerite, Elgin, Jean, Ray.  He is survived by his wife, Ann Bonfoey Brown, whom he met while stationed in Kirksville and married on July 29, 1958.  They just celebrated their 64^th wedding anniversary.  They had 3 children, LaVaughn Brown McGinnis (Jason), Robert Timothy Brown, Jr. (Krista), and Theresa Brown Mooney (Kevin).  There are 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren who were dearly loved. He is also survived by his sister Beth Wheeler.

He started his career with Western Electric and retiring from the AT&T corporation after 34 years of service.  He participated as the Employee Event Coordinator in organizing many local events for the company.  He also participated in company sponsored mentoring programs.  He was very active in both Missouri and Georgia Jaycee organizations as an officer in local clubs.  He spent many an hour coaching his children’s athletic teams and listening to their musical endeavors, wherever and whenever they performed.  Bob was a lifelong Georgia Bulldog fan and witnessed 2 of 3 National Championships.  He will be greatly missed.  GO DAWGS!

A funeral service will be held Friday September 2, 2022 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home.  Interment will be in Jonesboro City Cemetery, Jonesboro, Georgia.  The family will receive friends Friday September 2, 2022 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the funeral home.  A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
