Robert Dean Erwin, Sr.

Mr. Robert Dean Erwin, Sr. of Martin, GA, died Thursday, May 24, 2012. He was the son of Margaret and Arthur Henry Erwin of Decatur, Georgia. He retired from Western Electric-AT&T where he was employed as an Associate Engineer after 27 years. He was also the co-owner of Granny's Child Care in Norcross, GA. Recently, he was also the co-owner of Lakeside Glass in Martin, GA, where he and his wife fabricated stained glass windows. The job he enjoyed most was as a professional Santa Claus and he worked in many large malls over the United States. He graduated from Decatur High School and attended Georgia Tech. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Toccoa, GA, where he served as Head Elder for many years. He loved to sing and was a member of the Western Electric Washtub Band, performing not only in the Atlanta area but all over Georgia. He also sang with the Singing Saints and the Toccoa Symphony. He is survived by his wife, Evalyn (Eve) Meacham Erwin; children, Dr. Mary Margaret (Meg) Erwin of Nashville, TN, Katherine Leigh Erwin Hake of Gainesville, GA, Robert Dean Erwin, Jr. of Dunwoody, GA; sister, Maggie Erwin Stephens and her husband, Phil, of Conyers, GA; grandchildren, Samuel Tyler Hake, Robert Dean Erwin, III, and Evalyn Irene Erwin. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM, June 2, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 4041 Highway 27, (Big A Road), Toccoa, GA., 30577.
