Robert E. (Bob) Wann

May 6, 1919 — June 3, 2011

Mr. Robert E. "Bob" Wann, 92, of Decatur, passed away Friday, June 3, 2011. Mr. Wann was an Army Tank commander during WW II. He and his unit participated in the breakout from Normandy and the liberation of Europe. On Feb. 10, 2011, the French Consul General in Atlanta bestowed the prestigious Legion of Honor Medal on Mr. Wann in appreciation for the courage, devotion and contribution to the cause of freedom for France during WW II. Mr. Wann was formerly a member of Columbia Drive Baptist Church and was a current member of First Baptist Church Decatur. He is survived by his son, Robert M. "Matt" Wann; daughter-in-law, Myra D. Wann; grandson, Matthew C. Wann; close family friend, Dr. Sarah Helen Killgore; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 7th, at 10 am at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, from 5-7 pm at A. S. Turner & Sons.
