Roger Ellory Guilford

July 14, 1943 — January 12, 2022

It is with the deepest sense of loss at his passing, but with profound joy for having him in the lives of his family and friends that we announce the death of Roger E. Guilford on January 12, 2022. He gracefully slipped into the hands of God with his beloved daughter and grandson at his side. Roger loved music and family. He left this world in the enveloping presence of both.

Roger was born in Daleville, Alabama on July 14, 1943. He was raised on Guilford Street in Dothan, to a large, loving and religious family. He graduated from Auburn University in 1965, and remained a lifelong War Eagle. Roger was dedicated to his work at Plantation Pipeline until retirement, and enjoyed regular Piccadilly Cafeteria lunches with his former co-workers long after. He was Southern; from the plains of Lower Alabama to the Blue Ridge mountains of North Georgia, where he spent the last decades of his renaissance life. He was preceded in death by his mother Nunnie and father Mark.  He is survived by his daughter Jennifer Antinozzi, sons Roger and Bill Guiford and siblings Hazel Sprewell, Don Guilford and Greg Guilford. He has seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of whom experienced his wit, wisdom and humor at his mountain home. He was a professional engineer, who quoted Shakespeare. He was a large man with a gruff affect, who hugged his daughter and grandchildren with loving affection and enthusiasm. Roger will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family and many friends.

A viewing and memorial will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 4: 00 PM at A.S. Tuner and Sons at 2773 N. Decatur Rd, Decatur, GA 30033. All are welcome.
