Mrs. Ruth D. Davis, age 87, of Atlanta, passed away July 12, 2010. Ruth was a charter member of Valley Brook Baptist Church and attended the very first service held on the property. She was active in all phases of church life from 1957-1977: Sunday School teacher, Training Union leader, WMU officer, Cradle Roll visitor, church choir, church visitation and property improvement projects. She was currently a member of Briarlake Baptist Church in Decatur. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ralph C. Davis and is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John J. and Rhonda S. Davis; daughter and son-in-law, Catherine Davis and Samuel W. Jones; and grandchildren, Brian Daniel Davis, Benjamin Davis Jones, Joshua Glen Davis, Emily Catherine Jones and Marie Davis Nelson. A memorial service will be held today, July 14 at 11:00 AM at KingsBridge Retirement Center, 3055 Briarcliff Rd., Atlanta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to KingsBridge. A.S.
