Sandra Lee Faour Snelson

January 23, 1940 — February 5, 2018

Major Sandra Snelson, a native of Washington D.C., passed away Monday, February 5, 2018. She spent more than forty years as an officer (an ordained minister) for The Salvation Army. She was 78 years old.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 4255 Columbia Rd., Augusta GA, and Friday, February 9 at The Salvation Army, 1833 Broad St., Augusta GA at 9-10:30 a.m., with the funeral to follow at 11 a.m. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 10 at Westview Cemetery, 1680 Ralph David Abernathy SW, Atlanta, GA.

Major Snelson is survived by her sons John (Patricia) Snelson of Tega Cay, SC and Robert (Jill) Snelson of Tucker, GA; grandchildren, Jonah, Abigail, Peter, and Isaac; brothers Doug (Peggy) Faour, Fred (Margie) Faour, and Bill (Tina) Faour; sisters Freda (Gene) Slusher, Mary (Al) Turner, Charlotte (Mel) Jewett, and Rita (Leon) White, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents, Albert and Winifred Faour; brothers Jimmie, Norman, and David Faour; and sisters Margaret Taylor, Rosalyn Long, and Donna Jean Faour.
