Sara Frances Pickens

Mrs. Sara Frances Pickens, age 92 of Loganville passed away Monday, April 4, 2011. She was born in Redan, GA to the late Cleola E. New and Herman M. Blalock. Sara worked for many years for the DeKalb county schools in the cafeteria. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. (Tom) Pickens; son Donald and daughter Juanita. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Hames; sons, Thomas Pickens, Ted Pickens and Jimmy Pickens; 18 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren; 36 great-great grandchildren; and 5 great-great-great grandchildren; sister, Helen Buchanan; and brother, Edward Blalock. The family would also like to gratefully acknowledge her caregivers, Donna Mathews, Jennifer Lauder, Ken Pickens and Pam Evans. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 7th in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Rev.'s Jimmy Glaze and Edward Blalock officiating. Interment will follow at Melwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends today (Wednesday) from 2:00PM to 8:00PM and Thursday from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at A. S. Turner & Sons, Decatur.
