Sue Cheek

Our dear mother and grandmother, Susie “Sue” Cheek formerly of Lithonia, GA, passed away on November 3, 2022, in Park Place Nursing Home, Monroe, GA after suffering a number of years with Dementia.  Longleaf Hospice was providing her care.  She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.

Sue was born on April 11, 1934 to parents Quillion “Tip” Harrison Reagin and Linnie Wallace.  She was predeceased by her loving husband of over 50 years, Alton L. Cheek.  She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David L. and Delilah J. Cheek, and daughter, Karen L. Cheek; two grandchildren, Amber and Kerri, seven great grandchildren, Ansleigh, Ivy, Corbin, Siselya, Maggie, Trevor, Van; one great, great grandson, Lawton.

Sue had a deep love for her husband and they were happily married for over 50 years.  Sue also had a deep love for her children and grandchildren who were her pride and joy.  Sue was a long-time involved and devoted member of the United Methodist Church and the UMW Group. She spent many loving hours with fellow parishioners.  Sue always offered compassion and support to those suffering from illness and hardship.  She was a kind, loyal, and devoted friend, mother, and grandmother. She never had a bad word to say about anyone and was known for her kindness.  Sue was an excellent cook and had a delicious family dinner prepared at 6:00 pm every day.  

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.  The family will receive friends on Monday, November 7, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home in Decatur.  Interment will follow at Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mountain.
