Sylvia Peavy

Sylvia Redford Peavy, age 82 of Decatur, GA passed away on October 28, 2017. Sylvia was a devoted wife and mother, who loved to laugh and had a big heart. Anyone who knows Sylvia, knows she enjoyed seeing her children and grandchildren live their lives to the fullest, being their biggest supporter along the way.

Sylvia experienced an incredible life of almost 45 years with her husband Harry Candler Peavy, Jr. until he passed in 1996. Sylvia continued to love life, watching her children and grandchildren grow up as strong adults. Gone too soon in 2003 was her daughter, Sherry Beam at age 50 of Atlanta, GA. Sylvia leaves behind a long list of loved ones, including her son Charlie Peavy and his wife Debbie Peavy of Lawrenceville, GA. She was incredibly proud of her four grandchildren: Brian Beam, Christy Jordan, Ashley White and Katie Leder. Sylvia loved visits with her two great grandchildren, Ava (6) and Evan (3). A number of siblings, family members and friends will also miss her dearly.

Funeral guests and loved ones at a distance are encouraged to celebrate Sylvia by wearing bright colors. Her favorite colors were teal, purple and pink. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home in Decatur GA. at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 with Rev. Don Reed officiating. Graveside service will follow at Decatur Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday, October 30, 2017 at A.S. Turner & Sons.

If you would like to remember Sylvia with something other than flowers, the family suggests a donation to Strings of Mercy in honor of Sylvia (www.stringsofmercy.org). She loved music, and live therapeutic music comforted Sylvia in her final weeks. This non-profit organization does such great meaningful work, at such a sacred time.

The family wishes to thank Clairmont Oaks, Arbor Terrace of Johns Creek and Gentiva Hospice for walking through the final stages of life with great care and dignity.
